Karin McLean

Artist: Karin McLean

Karin McLean is a painter whose work explores the notion of place, belonging, and the essence of “home.” Inspired by her East Toronto neighborhood, she began painting twelve years ago, initially working in acrylics before transitioning to oil and watercolor. Her art captures familiar architecture and everyday scenes, finding beauty in the seemingly mundane.

McLean’s paintings resonate with viewers through their universal sense of nostalgia and connection, often evoking memories beyond specific locations. Her work is held in private and public collections across Canada, including the new Ken and Marilyn Thomson wing at Michael Garron Hospital in Toronto.

After a lifetime in East Toronto, Karin now lives in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada where she continues painting full-time.
